St. Philip’s Update

·      St. Philip’s has us penciled for the week of 6/11 and the week after (in case of more snow days).  We will sign a contract in January.

·      Winston Prep is renting the school for a year while they renovate their facility.  They will start their summer session the last week in June.  They will have access to the space beginning May 15.  They will be painting the classrooms.  We are not allowed to put anything on the freshly painted walls.  This means we can only hang things on the blackboards, closets and windows.  Not sure about the ceiling.

·      St. Philip’s was concerned that the amount of decorating done in 2011 increased the fire risk and would prefer not to see every surface covered.
Unsure if we will have access to the staff room.  If not, we may be able to use one of the other rooms.  Parents are allowed to eat, drink and rest in this room.

·      Other rooms we can use upstairs are: 203, 205, 207, 209, 211, 206, 208, 210, and 212 (Room 214 is where they store the desks).  This is 2 more rooms than 2011 – we don’t have to use them all.  Also: the foyer, lobby, downstairs, 2 rooms off the main area, the library (Casino) and Charleston room (Raffle).

·      Not exactly sure when we will be allowed to start decorating

Discussion of theme:

  • Back to the Future – have different decades rooms
  • Trip Around the World – have different countries for each room
  • Mardi Gras
  • New millennium – were the kindergarten class of 2000
  • Theme for the class is “It’s the not the end, it’s the beginning” referring to the Mayan calendar indicating that the end of the world will come about in 2012
  • Any other ideas?
