It is an alcohol and drug-free party given for the graduating seniors by their parents. It is held at an off-site location, not Norwalk High School, and runs after graduation from 10 PM until 5 AM the next morning.
What happens there?
The event is centered around a theme chosen by the parents, which is kept secret from the kids. Rooms are decorated according to the theme and different activities take place in different rooms. In the past, activities have included things such as fortune tellers, caricaturists, movie rooms, ping pong, mini golf, arcade games, air hockey, pool, video game rooms, a juice bar, karaoke, a memorabilia room, and, of course, food.
Who is invited?
All graduating seniors are invited. Invitations are distributed at school in home room toward the end of May. At that time, instructions will be given for responding to the invitation, and the kids will need to RSVP by a given date.
How is this funded?
Admission to the party is free for the graduating seniors. Senior parents are asked to donate toward the cost of the party, and corporate donations are solicited. In addition, there are several fundraisers held through the year to help defray costs.
